Disney XD has unveiled the first clip from Marvel’s Spider-Man which is the upcoming animated series that takes the wall-crawler back to his roots and back to high school.

Capitalizing on theatrical release in July of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the series premieres later this summer, offering a new take on the hero’s origin as 15-year-old Peter Parker gains incredible abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider.

The 1st clip which debuted yesterday this afternoon at TVGuide.com depicts the young hero in a homemade costume — one that’ll undoubtedly be familiar to anyone who’s seen the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailers — as he faces off against the classic foe the Scorpion.

Although there has been no confirmation by either Marvel Television or Disney XD, merchandise recently surfaced suggesting that Miles Morales & Spider-Gwen will have prominent roles in the series. Venom is also depicted. Both Miles Morales & Spider-Woman (aka Spider-Gwen) appeared on Ultimate Spider-Man, which premiered in 2012 as part of Disney XD’s Marvel Universe programming block.

No casting announcements have been made for Marvel’s Spider-Man. Philip Pignotti (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble) is the supervising director, with Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) serving as story editor. Consulting producers are Dan Slott (Spider-Man: Big Time, The Superior Spider-Man), Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man).
